Learned this trick on here years ago, clean Windows well with product of choice. It was less hassle to keep Rain X on than to change windshields. If the windshields got too scuffed up, the state patrol inspectors made him change glass.

Claimed if he kept the windshields treated, the windshields got less scratching from drivers using the wipers to take gravel road dust off. The mechanic was pretty religious on using Rain-x. I use Rain X most of the time on road vehicles.
